“Congratulations on a wonderful conference. I’ve been to many all over the world and the D59 one stands with the best.” Ted Corcoran, Past International President, Regional Advisor at Toastmasters International
“I felt welcomed and warmly embraced throughout the conference. The conference was a blast! Thanks for all your efforts.” Thomas Rose, Germany
“Thank you for organizing and conducting the district conference professionally and graciously. I connected with members from all over Europe striving for similar personal development, and I left with valuable, practical tips to take to my club.” Olivia Coker, Switzerland
“Thank you for organizing such a great event. We spent a wonderful weekend in Basel!” Annette Eichler, Germany
Just back from one of the best conferences ever, in Basel Switzerland, inspiring speeches and workshops, all so exceptional, I couldn’t single one out to tell you about. Here are some of the ones I attended.
Florian Mück, shared secrets to writing a book in his workshop Passion to Profession,
Peter Zinn told us to collect our stories and flesh them out, in his story workshop, Write, Collect, Tell!
Dermot Greene used crisp clean visuals to demonstrate the powerful point PowerPoint presentations can make.
Carsten Kiess managed to keep an exuberant and feisty crowd under control in his debating workshop.
Lars Sudmann, told us to think of ourselves as sports commentators when presenting a virtual presentation.
Carol Bausor was awarded Toastmaster of the year,
John Zimmer was awarded outstanding Member of the Year,
Jack Vincent was the outstanding DJ of the night!
Ted Corcoran who delivered the keynote, talked of leadership, a subject he is so admired for. He is also an outstanding leader on the dance floor!
Robert Cockburn and John Zimmer did an outstandingly professional job as the Contest Chairs for the finals, in fact they demonstrated why professionals get paid so much, because they lift the level of the conference. Of course there was some help from a 10 piece carnival band, which didn’t harm matters!
The contests were smashing!! literally! So many great speeches and well deserved wins. I learnt not to use soap in a locker room, not to have an operation at the Charite in case of frequent blackouts, not to expect men to know what I want and a hundred things to do with an egg!
The conference organisers did an outstanding job, despite Switzerland being a “great place to hold the humorous competition due to the prices being a joke” quote JZ, they managed to provide a glamorous hotel with top quality cuisine, organisation that ran like clockwork and a warm convivial atmosphere.
I learnt masses, met fantastic new people and shared quality time with old friends. So many other people did so many other things, in so many other languages!!! That is district 59!
Thanks to you all…. Poland here we COOooome.”
